Time Flies

I was thinking I would put my GalaxyBillies Christmas story up on Wattpad. I had originally written it to be podcast (you can find it here) and thought it would be fun to share it once again. Then, I noticed the date of the story: December 2011. Holy Cow! I can’t believe it has been so long since I wrote a GalaxyBillies story. I’ve got two projects that have to happen first, but I guess it is high time I got going on the next book in the trilogy. Not that I’ve completely forgotten the GalaxyBillies universe… My Champ McKay, Texas Space Ranger serial is also set in the same universe. Just a hundred years (or so) in the past.

Creating Worlds

One of the things I truly love, whether it is in books, movies, comic books or whatever, is when the property hits a certain tipping point and stops being a collection of material and becomes a living breathing entity. Several such properties come to mind (and might make what I’m talking about easier to envision): Star Wars; Star Trek; Discworld; Wizarding World of Harry Potter; Pern; Asterix and Obelix; Narnia. This is just a very small list; there are many MANY other examples out there. In each case, the original work has grown well beyond what was first conceived, gaining a life of its own.
