Last episode I mentioned a new project I’m working on with Jeffrey Hite. We are co-editing an Anthology I’ve referred to as the Mad Scientist Handbook. Well, the big news is, Five Rivers Publishing has agreed to take the project on. I believe this is going to be their first non-Canadian project.  Jeff and I have renamed the book to A Method to the Madness: A Guide to the Super Evil.

Submissions are open and you can find more information at madscientistanthology.wordpress.com.

I’ve also finished writing the first episode of Boy Scouts of the Apocalypse for The Action Pack Podcast. The first Action Pack episode along with the accompanying eBook will be available at the end of February. We have a website now, www.actionpackpodcast.com, which we will be developing over the course of the next few weeks.

In the Tips and Typos section of today’s show, Scott Roche tells us about his current cross-promotional project, 52-weeks-of-indie. He talks about what the promotion is, why he is doing it and how you can find out more.

I’m also talking to Zach Ricks, the Managing Editor for Flying Island Press, about digital rights.

That’s the lineup for today. I hope you enjoy the show.

Now that Flying Island Press has two issues of their new e-magazine “Flagship” completed and available for purchase, I wanted to talk with Zach Ricks and Scott Roche about how things went. What worked? What didn’t? How could things be better and just how did the writing community do with their submissions? Zach and Scott share a lot of great information about the past and give us an insight into the future of Flying Island Press including the addition of two new magazines in the new year.

In the feedback section of the show, I get a question from Darcy which asks, “How do I decide what stories to write? Do I write what publishers are asking for or do I write what I want and then find a publisher. My answer may (or may not) surprise you.

Thanks for listening.

Today’s episode is a special double-feature. I was lucky enough to talk with Zach Ricks and Scott Roche of Flying Island Press during Balticon 44. They talk about the new e-magazine “Flagship” and the upcoming submission deadline (June 15th) for their first issue. I also interviewed Scott Sigler who has the novel “Ancestor” coming out June 22nd.

I wanted to get both in front of you before the deadlines so you get two for the price of one. Both are great conversations that I hope you’ll enjoy.

Thanks for listening.
